Cynthia Scharf is a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Future Generations, advising their work on climate intervention technologies.
She was previously the senior strategy director for the Carnegie Climate Governance Initiative and helped catalyze governance discussions with global decision-makers on solar geoengineering. Cynthia has written widely on these topics including in Foreign Policy and Science and has spoken at the World Bank, Vatican, American Museum of Natural History, Harvard and Yale, among others.
From 2009-2016, Cynthia was the head of strategic climate communications and chief speechwriter on climate change for former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. She supported and advised the UN Secretary-General during the landmark Paris climate change agreement. She has also worked in international humanitarian relief and as an overseas reporter on geopolitical and environmental issues.
