Climate Solutions Workshop

The Climate Solutions Workshop is an interactive experience where participants have the unique opportunity to test climate strategies and assess impacts in real-time using the En‑ROADS Simulator.

Designed for professionals, educators, students, and engaged citizens, this workshop enables you to explore the implications of various global climate actions in a data-driven, collaborative setting.

How It Works

Participants work together to propose climate strategies in the En‑ROADS Simulator.

A trained facilitator guides a group discussion, helping translate the climate impacts and technological, environmental, social, and economic dynamics associated with each action.

The goal? To build a scenario that limits global warming to well below 2°C while exploring equity considerations, co-benefits, and real-world constraints.

  • Format: In-person or virtual
  • Suggested Time: 1 hour
  • Group Size: Ideal for groups of 10–50 people, but can be accommodated for groups of any size.
  • Participants walk away with:
    • A stronger grasp of climate solutions
    • Data-driven insights that drive effective mitigation and adaptation actions
    • A clearer view into economic, public health, environmental, and social policy pathways that achieve climate goals

  • “The workshop is an eye-opener and an amazing way to organize my understanding of the climate solution landscape.”
Ha Vu Former Senior Software Engineer, Google
  • “Engaging with the En‑ROADS Simulator has been one of the best ways for me, as a policymaker, to learn about how solutions to tackle climate change can reinforce or interfere with one another.”
Sheldon Whitehouse U.S. Senator, Rhode Island
  • “[The En‑ROADS Workshop is] a very useful exercise for policymakers to undertake and a good way to explain policy positions to the public.”
Mayor Jon Mitchell New Bedford, Massachusetts, USA
  • “The En‑ROADS workshop is exciting, entertaining, and insightful, with some surprising “a-ha” moments. En‑ROADS makes it clear that while there’s no single, simple solution, we still have the chance to limit global warming if we work together.”
    Bastian Rosenau District Administrator, Baden-Württemberg
  • “My engagement with En‑ROADS was one of the most inspiring conversations on climate change I’ve ever had. It was the first time I have seen the complexity of the climate-energy system presented in such a clear, yet scientifically rigorous way. All business leaders and policy makers should experience it.”
Jim Hagemann Snabe Chairman of Supervisory Boards, Maersk and Siemens
  • “When the facilitator and participants are debriefing their En‑ROADS session, there is a real feeling of possibility.”
Andrew Greenspan Vice President, Climate Risk, HSBC
  • “We brought the En‑ROADS simulator to a small group of our employees, and I was completely blown away by the insights it delivered. For a company like ours at the beginning of our climate journey, it was an invaluable exercise. My biggest takeaway was that we need to share this tool with more of our employees!”
Erin Baudo Felter Vice President of Global Impact, Okta
  • “[En‑ROADS] incorporates a myriad of significant action choices and, as a workshop progresses in real time, helps participants internalize the outcomes.”
Preston W Blevins Director at Large and Chair, Eco-Sustainability-SIG, Association for Supply Chain Management, San Diego Chapter
  • “Using the En‑ROADS simulation tool helped us all visualize and understand the urgency of the climate challenge, and the mix of technologies and policies necessary to create a low carbon future. We walked away [from the workshop] with a shared language and a clearer understanding of the role we can play as a family office in investing toward a better future.”
Mark Denzler and Jay Sullivan Former Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel, Sutton Place

Bring the Climate Solutions Workshop to the policy and business leaders you work with.

We provide experiences to leaders through our own engagements, via En‑ROADS Climate Ambassadors, and as part of the MIT Climate Pathways Project. Watch examples of previous workshops.
