NRDC cultivates urban solutions to protect the climate and improve well-being

logo-nrdc-2xThe National Resource Defense Council’s Urban Solutions strategies and tools help cities answer 21st century challenges by lowering energy bills, reducing flooding, improving access to healthier food, and making it cheaper for everyone to get around.

Climate Protection: From increasing public transit to bringing greenery to our neighborhoods to reducing food waste, the NRDC offers strategies that reduce carbon emissions and mitigate climate change Energy Industry & Mobility: The NRDC is working with the state of California and others to increase low-carbon transit, and is partnered with 10 city mayors to target energy efficiency in buildings Resilience: The NRDC is working on a stormwater initiative to reduce the impacts of extreme storms and flooding in cities Food & Water: The NRDC is working to increase access to healthy food for underserved populations in New York City and reduce food waste at the same time Jobs & Assets: The NRDC has a program on green investments to maintain private sector profits while providing opportunities at all income levels Health, Well-being, and Safety: The NRDC works with city leaders on neighborhood revitalization to create walkable, shaded streets conducive to exercise and clean air Connection: The NRDC brings city planners, policymakers, scientists, engineers, community groups, and other individuals together to build expertise, overcome obstacles, and share new ideas
