C-ROADS World Climate Update Released

Climate Interactive has released a new update to our C-ROADS World Climate Simulator.

Version 1.2.2 includes several new features and updates:

  1. The historical data used in the model for has been updated with recent studies. For example, population data has been updated with the latest projections of population growth from the United Nations.

  2. A few assumptions made in the business as usual scenario have been changed, including a shift in the path for deforestation and land use change emissions, as well as for hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).

  3. The structure for sea level rise has been updated and new bounds have been set to reflect additional sea level rise due to ice melt.

  4. The level of afforestation is now determined by the amount of available land as opposed to the max amount of carbon that can be sequestered.

  5. Improvements in the model interface have been made, such as adjustments to window and font sizing, updated logos, and additional links to resources.

  6. The main graphs and view are now available in Korean! This adds to the six other languages that C-ROADS World Climate is available in.

C-ROADS is used to support World Climate Simulation events, and for exploration of the necessary levels of emissions reductions that major regions and countries need to make to address climate change. Version 1.2.2 of C-ROADS can be downloaded and run on Mac OS and Windows. There is also an online version. If you’ve previously downloaded the Mac and Windows version, the new version will automatically download and update in the background. You can verify that your version of C-ROADS is up to date by checking the Help menu. Please launch the application, leave it running for about five minutes (depending on your Internet connection), and then restart the application. The new version will automatically load after it has downloaded in the background.
