The En-ROADS Climate Workshop

Simulating Global Solutions

The En-ROADS Climate Workshop helps build support for strategies to address climate change via interactive testing of the cutting-edge simulation model En-ROADS. The resulting experience is hopeful, scientifically-grounded, action-oriented, and eye-opening.

The workshop has been run for the U.S. Congress, Stattnet in Norway, a community group in Atlanta, the Energy Transition Forum in London, HSBC bank, the U.S. Climate Action Network, the UN Secretary-General’s Office, and many others.

The workshop is designed to be run by anyone dedicated enough to learn its facilitation. Materials, training, and the simulation are all free thanks to generous philanthropic support.

Alternatively, we offer the Climate Action Simulation, a game which can be used to achieve similar outcomes utilizing a role-play structure.

HOW IT WORKS (in brief)

In the workshop, participants propose climate solutions such as energy efficiency, carbon pricing, fossil fuel taxes, reducing deforestation, and carbon dioxide removal. The facilitator then tests these approaches separately or as a package in the En-ROADS Climate Solutions Simulator, so participants can see the impact on global temperature and other factors.

The workshop can be very brief, or cover a half day, and can include any number of people. However, a workshop running 60-90 minutes and for a group of 10-30 people seems to work best.
