Watch Dr. John Sterman of MIT In Short Video on C-ROADS

March 24, 2010 by Andrew P. Jones

Climate Interactive partner Dr. John Sterman of the Sloan School of Management at MIT, one of the developers of C-ROADS, presented the simulation and his wisdom about why it is needed at an event of the MIT Energy Initiative. Check out the 29 minute video here.

His core message: learning about scientific insights such as why we must act on climate must be participatory, experiential, and interactive or it just doesn’t touch people. But he makes the case even stronger in this short video. As he says, “when people change the model themselves, you see the lightbulbs click on!”

To experiment with the simulations he shows, explore his bathtub simulator, the Climate Scoreboard, C-Learn online, and full C-ROADS. His Science paper is here, his Climatic Change paper is here, and the World Climate role-playing exercise is here.
